Raising Money and Awareness for Lupus

RezalHey guys!

My gorgeous, wonderful, loving and caring Girlfriend Deanna as been living with Lupus for over 3 years now. She is one of the strongest people I know, and takes life by the reigns, and doesn't let her illness rule her. She is an inspiration to me, and I love her so much.

Every year she takes part in the Lupus Walk of California to help raise money for the Lupus Foundation of America, and I want to start doing my part to support her, and the foundations that exist to help people with Lupus.

This year I am planning several things.

First is a BBQ, don't know the whole details of how I'm going to pull this off yet, but I'm going to do my best!

Second is a Sponsored walk around Willen Lake of Milton Keynes. For every £50 I raise, I am going to attempt a lap of the North Lake. I may not achieve this, but I'll do my darn best! So keep donating to keep me walking!

I love you guys! I'm at £130 in one day! So that's two laps round so far, and see below for what else I'll do, and how to donate! :)

£200 - I'll Shave my head! (and again for every £100 raised after!)

£300 - I'll Wax my legs

£400 - I'll Wax my chest >.<

£500 - I'll go mostly hairless! Back, Arms, Eyebrows!

I will think of other things to help add incentive for you all to donate, but please, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated!

I am also accepting donations towards the American Foundation, and their Walk for Lupus to help support Deanna with her walk on June 12th. She's raised $30 so far, and as a team we've set our target at $200 ($100 for me to raise and $100 for her)

If you would like to donate towards this, please go to Her Fundraising page here!

And if you would like to donate to my page, please do so by donating here!

Any donations I receive off-line, I will be splitting between both the American and UK foundations.

If anyone has any ideas of what to do, or would like to help me in my hefty task, please let me know, you can contact me directly at rezal@hotmail.co.uk

Pictures and Videos from everything I do will be posted!

For more information on what Lupus is, please visit: http://www.lupusuk.org.uk/

Thanks to every that donates!

Tokonatsu Easter Egg

RezalWhen looking through the shiny new Tokonatsu website, stop and take a moment to hover your mouse over the banner...

All will be revealed...

Literally...

^.^

New Website!

Rezal
Its been a long time in the works, but the New Tokonatsu Site and forums are finally up! For once, we had a real exclusive, I'm shocked! We gave news on this back in September! We need more exclusives...

Head on over to check them out: http://www.tokonatsu.org.uk/

But I am liking the new design, even if there does seem to be a few bugs to iron out, good work has been done! It's a good sign to show us that even without Tokonatsu this year, that with this much effort for a new site, then they must be putting as much effort if not more into making sure next Toko not only happens, but rocks!

I hope ^.^

And we will be getting interviews with the committee done soon! We are just finalising the questions, and preparing things, then we will pin them down one at a time and make them talk!

Watch this space!

Tokonatsu 2010 Cancelled

RezalOn Friday 19th March 2010, Myst, The Chairman of the Committee of Tokonatsu wrote this:

--------------

Good morning all

Unfortunately this morning, I come bearing bad news. The committee met on Wednesday to discuss our options, based on the dates announced and the other conventions running at the time, coupled in with the search for a new site, and time running short, we have decided that our energy and effort will be better placed in not running Tokonatsu 2010.

I am sad to announce that Tokonatsu 2010 has been cancelled. The committee and myself apologise greatly for the situation that we are in, and are putting all our best efforts into assisting the camp site to run again in 2011.

To keep everyone up to date on the situation, a couple of weeks back, we received word from the camp site that due to a structural issue, and health and safety concerns, the wardens and chairman of the campsite closed the whole place down, till it is safe once again to enter. They are trying at the moment to sort everything out, however they could not guarantee that they could honour our booking for the site, and as such it would be unfair on the committee to expect everyone to pay and make time, for an event we couldn't guarantee to happen. We started the process of looking elsewhere, and for the requirements of a full Tokonatsu, camp sites were either coming up short, or the original dates we had discussed we already booked (and the weeks around it).

Given additional legal issues we have to sort out as well, for allowing people under the age of 18 to attend, we feel that our time is best spent sorting this out and ensuring we are able to offer under 18's to the event, and spend the time creating an even better event than before, rather than jumping through hoops to find a camp site.

There are going to be some changes coming this year, for example we hope to have the new website up and running, and the new forum ready to go. We are already in discussions with the camp site for attempting to get booked for 2011, and setting out some time frames to get the dates confirmed. So keep watching this space, (forums, Facebook etc etc).

As the camp site are still looking for donations to help them re-open, we are going to announce a way to help donate to the camp site, to try and get them back on their feet as quickly as possible! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once again I apologise for this bad news, and I urge you to keep your eyes out for further announcements.

Colin / Myst

--------------

This marks a sad day for all us Tokonatsu goers, but discussions after this post does give some hope that there may be an alternate site, but A LOT of work needs to be done if it was to happen here, and there may not be the time left to make it work.

Regardless of this, there may be some mini-meets or events that we at Toko-Retreat will organise over the coming summer. So please stay tuned, and see what we have to offer.

We will also be expanding the content of the site with various sections, but more to come on that soon!

There may be no Tokonatsu this year, but we will not let the spirit of it die! We will keep it going strong so that for Tokonatsu 2011, we are all ready and raring for the best Toko ever!

Until next time folks,
~Rezal

News Results from Toko-Commitee Meeting

RezalActual news this time!

The committee have had another meeting today, and I have been informed that there will be a press release in regards to the convention tomorrow, and that we at Toko-Retreat will be receiving a copy of this!

So stay tuned, and you will receive the latest convention news here!

On another note, when I posted the dates, I included the Monday as a convention day. This was a mistake on my part, and it is to be used strictly as a pack up day. Anyone still there on the Monday will be expected to be up at the crack of dawn, and leave the site as soon as they have packed.
