Welcome
Toko Retreat v3 Fan site for the Tokonatsu Anime Convention
Tokonatsu 2011!
It's just round the corner And I have to say I'm very excited!! In a surprise twist of events, it turns out the whole Toko-Retreat team will actually be in attendance this year! That's right, despite M pro's sad departure, and with Momo and Odyssey Having planned not to come either, all shall be there! As well as a few extra honorary members for the year!
Also, i have been given the go ahead to announce that Snowking and Miradus will be awarding a special prize to who they think is the most awesome person of con this year! To enter...Just be awesome! The prize will be a Playstation 3 and games!
How bloody generous is that??
Also, I hear rumour that there are so many water guns now that we could potentially take over the world...
We'll have our usual mini-city of tents, and with actually enough people to fill them this year! We aim to bring the Pool of Dhoom again, but this is yet to be confirmed. So as easy as we will be to spot, unfortunately there will be now banners around our encampment this year, as they all got thrown away in a garage clearance that i wasn't there to supervise -_-
So I think that's all i have to update with at the moment, so see you all at Toko 2011!!
s-CRY-ed Review
Hi Guys! It's been awhile since I've given any semblance of an update, so I'm going to try and watch some new anime weekly and give you my thoughts on it :)
So here's my first of hopefully many!
It’s been some time since I’ve seen some anime, my work and social life exploding a fair bit in the last year. So it was nice to find myself with a free evening last week, and sit down to something that I love so much.
Flicking through the library of anime at my finger tips, I come across s-CRY-ed. Now, I had heard of this through Momiji-Dono when he’d showed me the DVD’s at HMV some years ago, but never got around to watching it. So on it goes, and I must say, I am fairly immediately impressed.
I don’t like giving away story, so I’ll do my best at a premise. The story is set in a near future version of Japan, on an island known as The Lost Ground. It is a prefecture near Tokyo where something happened during “The Great Uprising”, and they became the first independent state of Japan.
Now a portion of the population born to The Lost Grounds have the special ability to deconstruct, reshape, and crystallise matter at a molecular level, using only thought and willpower. Those born with the ability are known as “Alter” Users, and these are split into two groups. You have the Native-Alter Users, who live in the wilderness outside the central city run by the government, and those called HOLY, working for an organisation called HOLD, whom act as the super police for the central city and The Lost Grounds.
Now, as far as I can tell, the Alter Powers are each unique to the user, and are usually shaped by the strongest characteristic of that user’s personality. For example, there is a user whom values speed and saving time above all else, so has the ability to increase the speed of anything he wishes, and another user is strong, agile and to the point, so his alter takes the form of an altered arm, greatly increasing his strength and speed, and keeping him sleek and agile in combat due to it’s compact size.
The series manages a fun and light air to it, akin to FMA I think, but also has more serious and gripping deeper story lines that keep you hooked, again, much like FMA, (I love FMA if you couldn’t tell ^.^) The art in my opinion is gorgeous, and I’m loving the sound track too. So without wanting to give too much more away, I’d definitely recommend s-CRY-ed, and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
And to tie it off, here's the opening :)
